The Most Powerful Name EVER

SNQSgMF

Power of attorney is defined as the authority to act for another person in specified matters. We have actually as born again Christians been given the power of attorney to use the name of Jesus. We act in His name. When we affirm anything or make a decree in the Name of Jesus, it’s as though Jesus Himself decreed it. We speak for Him, or speak in His place, when we use the Name of Jesus.

We don’t beg with the Name of Jesus!!!!

in-jesus-name-960x540

I can’t imagine going to a Government Parastal in the name of the President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and be begging to be given a listening ear. Like, Buhari sends me to get a document or two from Ministry of Education and he has called in advance to make them aware of my arrival and I get there and still have to beg them to listen to me? Impossible!!!!!

The Bible has made us understand in Psalm 24:1 that “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” and in Phillipians 2:9-10 we are assured that “God also hath highly exalted Jesus, and given Him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth”.

You have the most powerful Name in all the universe at your disposal to use at will, don’t use it to beg, don’t use it to worry, don’t use it to cry, don’t use it to pity yourself.

Instead use the name of Jesus to put the devil and his demons, sin, sickness, death, joblessness, limitation, depression and even death in their place- defeated! And then use the same Name to establish yourself in the triumphant life, in all round success, health, prosperity, and joy. Use it to make your life glorious!!!!!!

Drive Through With Your DRIVE

IMG_20170726_141801_797

I was minding my business when this beautiful and presentable lady approached my office table and asked if I was interested in buying body sprays and perfumes.

Before I could say Jack Robinson, she had occupied my table with different assorted body sprays and perfumes.

“This body spray is very good, lasts long and most of my customers love it”, she continued pointing to a body spray I was admiring.

Her use of English, presentation and interpersonal skills were top notch and I ended buying a body spray and a perfume from her.

She left her detials and asked me to call her when I exhausted the lot.

Curiosity they say killed the cat but I’m sure my next point of action won’t kill me. I used her number to search for her Facebook account (I’m sure some people didn’t know you could do that…lol. YES YOU CAN!!!)

What I discovered ‘wowed’ me.

This young and vibrant looking perfume seller recently passed out from Youth service.

Instead of sitting at home, lazying about and applying for jobs, she took the initiative and started something with what she had with the believe that one day she will have a story to tell.

What’s going to be your story?

The Bible said in Ecclesiastes 9: 10 “Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it well…..”

Stop looking down on yourself. If you don’t like your situation, keep yourself busy till the situation changes. Don’t be lazy about it. Life is happening, ‘happen along’.

This young lady wouldn’t have been let into the office if she came with the sole aim of dropping her CV but was allowed in because she had something to sell.

See how her small mobile business opened the door for her into the office complex?

Let’s now imagine she had the resourcefulness and foresight as to go about her little business with her CV. As she sells a perfume to a client, she drops her CV with him/her with a smile saying “if you hear of any vacancy in your company or anywhere else, please give me a call”.

INITIATIVE!!!!!!!

Google defines the word initiative as “the power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do”. Oxford dictionary defines it as simply “a fresh approach to something”.

You have been applying for jobs and believing. That’s good. But in Eistein’s words ‘stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting different results’.

Do something different dammit.

Proverbs 22:29 says “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people”.

Emphasis on ‘Skilled in their work’. Even if you can’t go out and sell stuff. Learn a skill. Learn a trade. Improve yourself. Serve more passionately in church. Teach kids in the neighborhood a subject you are good at. Study a course online.

Sharpen your knife (mind) so when the wood (job) is available, you can cut it swiftly (successfully).

Humorously, the perfume and body spray I got from her are named “DRIVE”.

What’s your DRIVE? (pun intended)

Get up. Get out. Get working.

Flesh and The Female Dresscode To Church

gh

It was a beautiful Sunday morning and I woke up with this feeling of joy and expectation  and couldn’t wait to get to church to feel God’s presence first hand.

Got into church just in time as ushers were busy ushering ‘late comers’ to their seats and two girlfriends were ushered to two vacant seats directly in front of me.

I didn’t think much of them because they sat down like the big sisters of Jesus and didn’t act like they understood that praise involved standing up and dancing.

During the course of the service, we were all asked to stand up and that’s when all hell broke loose.

You remember the story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife in the Bible? How the devil knowing that Joseph was destined for greatness pushed Potiphar’s wife into a sinful desire to sleep with Joseph? (Read full story in Genesis 39).

That’s how I felt when one of the girls stood up and her see through gown clearly showed the lines of her rope underwear aka g-string.

CaEd-p1UsAAtqcI

OH MY GAWWWWD!!!!!

WHAT IS ALL THIS!!???????!!!!!

I looked to the ground and said within my breathe “Satan, nice try!!!”

Suffice to say that service was amazing but not without those uncomfortable and unholy quick stares I took at this ‘evil’ girl’s big g-string wearing buttocks. Sorry to add, I wasn’t the only one making quick glances at madam.

66389-c667f284370e4e50a0f85fb763a673db

But why?

Why would a lady wear such to the house of God? Why would some girls wear overly cleavage showing tops to church? Why would a girl wear a dress worthy of going to the club with into church? Why would a lady with a killer figure wear a gown so tight that every bump on her body is outlined through the dress? Why would a lady encourage sexual attraction from the opposite sex with her dressing?

1 a girl begging for it online1a

In another school of thought, is it okay for churches to disallow worshipers inappropriately dressed from entering the church?

But Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. So what if these scantily dressed girls are showing their body because there is something lacking inside? What if they are burdened and in need of rest by coming to church? Do we turn them back just because they are not well dressed? What if the person decides not to accept Christ again over the fact that she was embarrassed because of her dressing?

Indecent-dresses

What do we have to say about the churches themselves? Most don’t even agree on a unified dress code. In some churches, women compulsorily cover their hair while in others, they don’t. In other churches, women are banned from wearing trousers while in others, they are not. In some other churches, jeans aren’t allowed while in others jeans are. In some denominations, tight body hugging pencil skirts are allowed while in others, it’s a taboo.

B7JnVhKCIAIzos5

The issue of dressing to church has been a century long debate in the body of Christ and the end is no where in sight.

In as much as the Bible says In John 7:24 “People judge the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart”. That doesn’t give ladies the audacity to dress shabbily into the house of God because God looks at the heart. What sort of heart do you have in dressing so temptingly to church?

IMG_8778

In everything we do, we need to give ourselves brain. Eccesiastes 10:10b says “….but wisdom is profitable to direct”.

The same wisdom that directs one to dress appropriately for an interview with a prospective employer. The same wisdom that directs one to take a swimsuit/bikini to the swimming pool. That same wisdom should direct you to dress appropriately to the house of God because the Bible said vividly in 1 Timothy 2:9 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in decent apparel, with modesty”.

3586340_cymera20160410100959_jpegffb3c9bb5853f9114d35b3cadcfdb701

This applies to both men and women alike, you should bring glory to God in the manner of your dressing. In church and outside church.

God might look at heart but if your dressing had eyes, would it confidently look at God?

Think about it.

The Smile for the Camera Relationships

636091882

Growing up, I realized quite early that God made my feet annoyingly big. My dad and brothers couldn’t pass down shoes to me because as early as 17, I had outgrown everyone’s shoe size.

During Youth Service, the NYSC officials couldn’t provide me with a shoe that could fit. I wear 46/47 and the most they had in my camp was size 45 so I was the only corper exempted from wearing boots. I wore slippers and my own shoes around the camp. It was that bad.

Have you ever seen a shoe you like but heartbroken that it doesn’t fit?

I go to the market to get shoes and come back depressed. The gorgeous shoes I see aren’t my size but with anger coupled with optimism, I buy one or two that fit a bit.
I wear them out to occasions and get the “beautiful shoe” compliments left, right and center which should be enough to offset the pain my feet is feeling. Right? WRONG!!!
When no one is looking, I find a place to get the damn shoes off, stretch my feet and let them breathe. It’s never worth it.

keep-calm-and-say-cheese-372

Does my shoe struggles sound familiar with some relationship problems?

She’s beautiful, hot and quite presentable. She’s like a trophy wife. People keep gushing about her looks and poise but inside no one knows what you are enduring. She’s difficult to handle. She’s disrespectful. She’s lazy. She’s contentious.
He’s handsome, hardworking and funny with a very healthy bank account. He’s every girl’s dream. Girls are envious of you both and guys are jealous but inside no one knows what you are enduring. He speaks to you in a condescending manner, shouts at will and strikes you when he can’t stand your complaints.

say_cheese__by_melartin-d5c2sku

Let’s look at this “smile for the camera” type of relationships we keep having from another angle.

You are to travel from Abuja to Lagos by road with your family and given two options;
First is an unpainted Sienna bus with a regularly serviced engine, tires and a well-trained driver.
Second is a 2017 Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle with a faulty engine, tired looking tires and an aggressive Fast and Furious driver.
Which of the automobiles would you choose to travel in?

Easy choice right?

So why do we stay in abusive relationships because of what people will say?
Why do we stay in stale relationships that look good on the outside but toxic on the inside?
Why do we keep managing relationships that are leading to nowhere?
Why do we keep praying for the wrong man to change instead of praying for the right man to find you?
Why do we keep entertaining a promiscuous partner with the excuse that “the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t”?
Why do we keep forgiving a partner that slaps and beats you at will because he loves you and maybe “it’s my fault he slapped me”?
Why do we smile for the camera (family, friends, colleagues, social media contacts) like we have a perfect relationship when we are dying on the inside?

saycheese

It’s time you drop what people might think and stand by what you think because at the end of the day, “no one knows where the shoe pinches, but he who wears it.”
Don’t be the sad and bruised girl in a Range Rover Sport looking out of the window and admiring the happy and joyous girl in a taxi.
Life is too short to be unhappy.
A broken engagement is better than a broken marriage.
Stop sitting on the fence and take that leap of faith.
Who cares what the camera sees when you are hurting in camera (pun intended).
Get out now while you still can.

The Anger That Can Cook Food

yell

“No matter how hot your temper is it cannot boil water talk-less of yam”.

Put the heat of your temper to a productive use or better still do nothing. Remember it is the same fire that refines gold that razes a whole neighborhood. It is just the application.

Get angry at the devil not your fellow human being because as even Jesus said on his death ‘bed’, “father, forgive them for they know not what they do”.

Some people are just ignorant, not well trained, lack manners or just outright stupid. Don’t waste an ounce of energy getting upset over their unscrupulous actions.

They needed training but didn’t get it, so they need your prayers not your temper. Let them go.

Remember, getting angry is actually punishing yourself with the mistakes of others.

Everytime I get angry, I have to remind myself that “ex convict” is not a title I want to have for the rest of my life.

He who controls his anger, controls his life.

In the famous words of Buddha, “holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die”.

Relax and let it go……

The Bible Verse That Made Me Stop Clubbing

club

I stepped foot into a night club for the first time in  September 2011 while undertaking my NYSC program and that itself was more out of curiosity than fun seeking. Always heard about clubs and desired to know what made people throng to clubs in search of fun/excitement.

My first day wasn’t as fun as I had anticipated. Drinks were too damn expensive, drinks that would sell for less than a quarter of the same price (outdoor vendors). The music was too damn loud, I could barely hear myself think. The place was filled with sweaty people gyrating in different directions. Scantily and seductively dressed ladies were making their presence felt.

club2

I arrived with my gang with the confidence of using our good looks and poise to get girls to groove with. What a wawu!!!!!

In the despair of dancing alone, one of my guys saw a group of friends he knew and we ended up dancing with them. Up stepped Angela, dark skinned chikabonita with the behind of a goddess. She displaced my senses and then when I was high like a kite. She was gone.

club4

To cut the sad story short, we ended up leaving the club for home but Angela had left an indelible mark on my sense. I was high on alcohol and also ‘high’ on Angela’s gyrations down there. Suffice to say that the sleep wasn’t a pleasant one.

I got up the next day to say my prayers and a scripture kept popping up in my head.

Mark 8:36.

I opened my Bible and it read “What shall it profit a man to gain the World and lose his soul”.

933a8984421329ee4dddcadf63e787bb

At first I didn’t understand the scripture’s reference to my situation and then it hit home.

What shall it profit a man to smell jollof rice and not eat it.

What shall it profit a man to enter a plane and not fly in it.

What shall it profit a man to spend on a girl and watch her marry someone else.

What shall it profit a man to dance with a girl at a club and not end up going home with her.

What shall it profit a man to get turned on and not get laid.

club3

Then I made up my mind. If I’m not with my girlfriend, I’m never going clubbing.

It’s been a little under 6 years since my first club experience and in almost 2190 days (365 days x 6 years), I have been clubbing just 7 times.

Why smell what you won’t eat?

Why the torture?

The Biggest Music Concert in Nigeria

wigradio-1497265383545

As Nathaniel Bassey blew the trumpet, the whole ‘stadium’ began to shout, scream and sing, all 50,000 of them. It was my first time in this extra ordinary “concert” and it was mind blowing to put it mildly.

To make it even more surreal, there were guest appearances from Africa’s most dynamic music duo: Don Jazzy and D’banj. Other artists like Tiwa Savage, Capital Femi, Obiwon, Kcee, Weird MC and Steve Crown graced the venue.

Even actors weren’t left behind; Uche Jombo, Chika Ike, Chioma Akpotha and Funke Akindele were present to feel the wave of the moment. The amiable personality in Toke Makinwa also graced the occasion.

So Who is this Man that celebrities and over 50,000 strong people thronged in an encompassing embrace to see/feel/witness?
