Does God Want Us To Be Rich?

IN-GOD-WE-TRUST

One of the perplexing issues facing Christians today is whether God wants us to be rich or poor. I am not in that school of confusion because even as a little boy, I realized that money made everything better and easy. I needed money from my dad to buy books, biscuits and every other thing. My dad would annoyingly ask “this boy do you think money grows on trees?” whenever I asked for money to get new football whenever the barb wire around our house burst our ball.

I wanted to be able to make my own money and buy as many soccer balls and Shortbread (my favorite biscuit as a kid even till now..lol) as I wanted. The sooner the better.

Money is good!!!!!

Then as a teenager I heard people say that money is the root of all evil while quoting 1 Timothy 6:10.

Is having money evil?

maxresdefault

A better understanding of that same scripture showed me that it’s the love of money, the obsession with money, the worship of money that is the root of all evil not money itself.

Thank God!!!!!!

MONEY IS GOOD!!!!!!

Does God want us be rich though?
The Bible gives us an emphatic YES in 3 John 2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

So God wants me to be rich!!!! Wow!!!!!

So how do we make this money? Going deeper into the Word of God, I discovered the secret to making money in Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth..”

So God wants us to be rich and He can make us rich but why does He want us to be rich?

1. He is a rich God. Psalms 24:1 makes us understand that the Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it including crude oil (petrol, gas, kerosene), diamonds, gold, money (Dollars, Pounds, Naira and your local currency), cars (yes, cars….). Everything belongs to God and He gives generously to those who ask (James 1:5).

2. He wants to bless you because you are created in His image and since you are His child and He is a rich God, His riches belongs to you (Genesis 1:26, Psalms 35:27, Psalms 84:11 and Psalms 115:14).

3. He wants you blessed financially so you can finance the gospel because God will never give you something unless He expects you to use it (Deutronomy 8:18 and 2 Corinthians 8:9).

4. He wants you to honour Him through your financial success (Proverbs 3:9-10).

5. He wants you to be a consistent tither and give to fund His ministry on Earth through your local church and ministry outreaches (Malachi 3:10).

6. He wants you to care for the poor, widows, orphans and the helpless (Proverbs 19:17, James 1:27 and Exodus 22:22-24)

7. He wants you to be the head and not the tail. In the words of Bishop David Oyedepo “When I found out in Psalms 22:7 that the rich rule over the poor and the borrower is a slave to the lender, I vowed never to be poor or borrow”.

God wants you to be rich and prosperous. A giver not a taker. A lender not a borrower. The head and not the tail but seek first the kingdom of God (preach the gospel, tell people about Jesus, help the poor, make someone smile) and His righteousness, and all these things (money inclusive) shall be added to you.

The Most Powerful Name EVER

SNQSgMF

Power of attorney is defined as the authority to act for another person in specified matters. We have actually as born again Christians been given the power of attorney to use the name of Jesus. We act in His name. When we affirm anything or make a decree in the Name of Jesus, it’s as though Jesus Himself decreed it. We speak for Him, or speak in His place, when we use the Name of Jesus.

We don’t beg with the Name of Jesus!!!!

in-jesus-name-960x540

I can’t imagine going to a Government Parastal in the name of the President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and be begging to be given a listening ear. Like, Buhari sends me to get a document or two from Ministry of Education and he has called in advance to make them aware of my arrival and I get there and still have to beg them to listen to me? Impossible!!!!!

The Bible has made us understand in Psalm 24:1 that “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” and in Phillipians 2:9-10 we are assured that “God also hath highly exalted Jesus, and given Him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth”.

You have the most powerful Name in all the universe at your disposal to use at will, don’t use it to beg, don’t use it to worry, don’t use it to cry, don’t use it to pity yourself.

Instead use the name of Jesus to put the devil and his demons, sin, sickness, death, joblessness, limitation, depression and even death in their place- defeated! And then use the same Name to establish yourself in the triumphant life, in all round success, health, prosperity, and joy. Use it to make your life glorious!!!!!!

Flesh and The Female Dresscode To Church

gh

It was a beautiful Sunday morning and I woke up with this feeling of joy and expectation  and couldn’t wait to get to church to feel God’s presence first hand.

Got into church just in time as ushers were busy ushering ‘late comers’ to their seats and two girlfriends were ushered to two vacant seats directly in front of me.

I didn’t think much of them because they sat down like the big sisters of Jesus and didn’t act like they understood that praise involved standing up and dancing.

During the course of the service, we were all asked to stand up and that’s when all hell broke loose.

You remember the story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife in the Bible? How the devil knowing that Joseph was destined for greatness pushed Potiphar’s wife into a sinful desire to sleep with Joseph? (Read full story in Genesis 39).

That’s how I felt when one of the girls stood up and her see through gown clearly showed the lines of her rope underwear aka g-string.

CaEd-p1UsAAtqcI

OH MY GAWWWWD!!!!!

WHAT IS ALL THIS!!???????!!!!!

I looked to the ground and said within my breathe “Satan, nice try!!!”

Suffice to say that service was amazing but not without those uncomfortable and unholy quick stares I took at this ‘evil’ girl’s big g-string wearing buttocks. Sorry to add, I wasn’t the only one making quick glances at madam.

66389-c667f284370e4e50a0f85fb763a673db

But why?

Why would a lady wear such to the house of God? Why would some girls wear overly cleavage showing tops to church? Why would a girl wear a dress worthy of going to the club with into church? Why would a lady with a killer figure wear a gown so tight that every bump on her body is outlined through the dress? Why would a lady encourage sexual attraction from the opposite sex with her dressing?

1 a girl begging for it online1a

In another school of thought, is it okay for churches to disallow worshipers inappropriately dressed from entering the church?

But Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. So what if these scantily dressed girls are showing their body because there is something lacking inside? What if they are burdened and in need of rest by coming to church? Do we turn them back just because they are not well dressed? What if the person decides not to accept Christ again over the fact that she was embarrassed because of her dressing?

Indecent-dresses

What do we have to say about the churches themselves? Most don’t even agree on a unified dress code. In some churches, women compulsorily cover their hair while in others, they don’t. In other churches, women are banned from wearing trousers while in others, they are not. In some other churches, jeans aren’t allowed while in others jeans are. In some denominations, tight body hugging pencil skirts are allowed while in others, it’s a taboo.

B7JnVhKCIAIzos5

The issue of dressing to church has been a century long debate in the body of Christ and the end is no where in sight.

In as much as the Bible says In John 7:24 “People judge the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart”. That doesn’t give ladies the audacity to dress shabbily into the house of God because God looks at the heart. What sort of heart do you have in dressing so temptingly to church?

IMG_8778

In everything we do, we need to give ourselves brain. Eccesiastes 10:10b says “….but wisdom is profitable to direct”.

The same wisdom that directs one to dress appropriately for an interview with a prospective employer. The same wisdom that directs one to take a swimsuit/bikini to the swimming pool. That same wisdom should direct you to dress appropriately to the house of God because the Bible said vividly in 1 Timothy 2:9 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in decent apparel, with modesty”.

3586340_cymera20160410100959_jpegffb3c9bb5853f9114d35b3cadcfdb701

This applies to both men and women alike, you should bring glory to God in the manner of your dressing. In church and outside church.

God might look at heart but if your dressing had eyes, would it confidently look at God?

Think about it.

The Biggest Music Concert in Nigeria

wigradio-1497265383545

As Nathaniel Bassey blew the trumpet, the whole ‘stadium’ began to shout, scream and sing, all 50,000 of them. It was my first time in this extra ordinary “concert” and it was mind blowing to put it mildly.

To make it even more surreal, there were guest appearances from Africa’s most dynamic music duo: Don Jazzy and D’banj. Other artists like Tiwa Savage, Capital Femi, Obiwon, Kcee, Weird MC and Steve Crown graced the venue.

Even actors weren’t left behind; Uche Jombo, Chika Ike, Chioma Akpotha and Funke Akindele were present to feel the wave of the moment. The amiable personality in Toke Makinwa also graced the occasion.

So Who is this Man that celebrities and over 50,000 strong people thronged in an encompassing embrace to see/feel/witness?

He is the Alpha and Omega, Ancient of Days, Beginning & the End, Creator of all things, Everlasting Father, Elohim, El-Shaddai, Emmanuel, First and Last, Finisher of Our Faith, Father of Mercies, God of the whole Earth.

He is I AM THAT I AM, Jehovah El-Shaddai, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Shalom, King of Kings, Lily of the Valley, Lord God Almighty, Lord God Omnipotent, Lord Most High, Lord of All the Earth, Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Mighty One in battle, My Salvation, My Shield, My Strength, My Support, Way Maker.

Basketball: 3 Tall Men, 2 Kings, 1 God

Basketball-Wallpaper-Street-Basketball-Wallpaper-Wallpaper-

Growing up, I realized that I was growing taller than my mates and was always made to stand at the back of the class during morning assembly. Occasionally the height advantage felt good as a child but more often than not, towering over my peers brought with it unnecessary attention from teachers who were always looking for a scapegoat? My height was an enemy.

Then I got older and I grew taller and taller and taller. Currently standing at 6ft 4in tall, I have stopped growing now (I think) and apart from getting those “I don’t want to stand next to him” stares I get when group photographs were being taken, nothing annoyed me more about my height than being constantly asked “why don’t you play basketball?”

As a kid I was never interested in the sports called basketball. Soccer was my cup of tea. I dream soccer. I eat soccer. I lived soccer. I even played soccer once with a broken hand. Soccer was my all. But that didn’t stop the “why don’t you play basketball?” questions from coming. Of course I am tall and it was expected.

I thought about developing an interest in “the beautiful game” as basketball is often referred to and maybe “not waste my height” as people kept saying.

Then the unexpected happened.

I should have been maybe 14 years old or so when the boys in my hostel were invited to play basketball at a court close to school. I had never played the game before but my height got me the “lead role” and I flunked. Badly. That wasn’t even sad part, to rub salt into the wound, a senior in school disappointed with my display said and I quote “bush boy, you can’t even play basketball”.

Nadine_IMG_0113-700x525

So being the youngest goalkeeper to make the Senior team and also being one of the fastest track and field athletes in my age bracket wasn’t enough but since I couldn’t play America’s game, I was a bush/local boy?

I never step foot in a basketball court again. The hate for the sports had reached a climax and there was nothing that was gonna change that.

Then came a hero!!!!!

A King in his own right.

king-lebron-james-wallpaper-with-trophy

He came, swept me off my feet and made me fall in love with a sports I should have played (height wise).

The King was LeBron James.

lj_design_final_v2_by_burstingdesigns-d8wjwf0

It’s being over half a decade since my hatred for the sports was diluted by this one human being.

Just when I was getting a little comfortable with the idea of liking basketball, Steph Curry came along and blew me out of the water.

12728554_1685683291708532_1883943865_n

He made me love the game if not for anything but for his love for God. Being a devout Christian, a Jesus loving husband and father, Curry has my favorite scripture Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” —and Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ that strenghtens you”—on his game shoes.

il_fullxfull.928812915_mc47

Steph once explained how his faith has been his driving force. He said “I’ve always been a believer that the Lord has put whatever talent in you, [and] whatever gift He has put in you, He wants you to get the most out of that. He wants you to succeed; He wants you to pursue and work and be passionate about it,” Curry says. “It’s not about getting any of the glory for yourself; it’s all for His [glory]. That’s where you have to keep perspective. Work at it and do all you can so you get the most out of yourself, but do it for His will.”

What a man!!!!

wc1762674

Soccer still has my heart but basketball is gaining a large stride but God will always reign supreme.

Stand tall, give God pre-eminence in everything you do, always study the Bible (King James) and watch God sprinkle curry into your life (no pun intended).

Remember, you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. Philippians 4:13

Did I use sports to talk to you about Jesus? Yes I just did. God bless you.
