Day 9: Relax, Our God is An Engineer

It is Day 9 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

This is the second week of the Prayer and Fasting program. Click HERE for previous messages for the first week.

For today, we would be taking a look at the food providing and storm calming God.

I have attended weddings in my beloved Nigeria where getting food was based on “who know who”. For non-Nigerians, this is the principle where only people the waiter/server knows gets food. In order not to disgrace myself, I just shined teeth smiled with the bride and groom, took pictures and left. I surely didn’t have the strength to bribe/fight/beg for food. For comon overrated jollof rice, salad, moi moi, kpomo, egg and chicken. But why?

Then I attended my cousin’s wedding where all the servers/waiters knew me. I was rest assured and not bothered about getting food. Such was my confidence that I even invited a friend to the wedding with the promise that there was enough to eat and drink. And I didn’t disappoint.

Not only did I have enough to eat and drink. I had enough for my guest. I was this confident because I am born into the family of the celebrant. I was at perfect peace.

I remember hearing a story about a train travelling through the night in a very violent rainstorm. The lightning flashes were almost blinding, the rain hitting the windows was deafening and the strong winds rocked the train from side to side. When the lightning flashed and lighted up the darkness, the passengers could see the rising water along the tracks. This created terror in the minds of the passengers. Several passengers noted that through all the noise, lightning and wind, one of the passengers, a little girl, seemed to be at perfect peace. The adult passengers couldn’t figure out why the little girl was so calm during all the turbulence. Finally, one passenger asked her, ” How is it that you can be so calm when all the rest of us are so worried about what might or could happen?”
The little passenger smiled and said calmly, “My father is the train engineer!”

She was unperturbed, unmoved, unfazed by the circumstances around her because in her words “My father is the train engineer” and she had full faith in her father’s ability to calm the troubled train.

As Christians, we surely can’t forget Mark 4:35-38 which reads “On the same day, when evening had come, Jesus said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Verses 39-41 “Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”. And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

Why are you so fearful or worry so much about tomorrow?
Why are you so worried about what you would eat or drink tomorrow, when you are born into the family of the Almighty Celebrant where food never runs out?
Why are you concerned about the terrors of life (accident, death, sickness, terrorism etc) when your Heavenly father, the creator of the Universe is the Engineer of the whole wide World?
Why are you so fearful of the storms of life (recession, money issues, business stagnation etc) when your Jesus Himself calmed the storm and then added effizy by walking on water?

Relax and enjoy life because everything is gonna be alright.

Day 8: The Testimony Provoking God

It is Day 8 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

This is the second week of the Prayer and Fasting program. Click HERE for previous messages for the first week.

For today, we would be looking at the testimony provoking God.

It was one of the night services of Shiloh 2016 and the Pastor in charge had just announced “Testimony Time” but while the first testifier was been called up, I quickly dashed out of church to get an envelope for my offering. It was on my way out that I heard screams of joy from inside the auditorium. I quickly ran back into church along with those outside to find out the testimony that caused such immerse noise.

What I saw and heard hasn’t still sunk in till today even over a month after hearing it.

It can only be God.

So the testifier Mr. Miracle (I didn’t get his name so let’s go with this) told the testimony of how he woke up in the morning, went to a car wash to have his Toyota SUV washed in preparation for work.

I have to quote him for you to understand the testimony and the God behind it better.

“It pays to serve God. I just came back from Shiloh service tagged ‘My Case is Different’ last night. I took my car to a Car Wash to get the car washed to resume work.
As I brought the car, not up to three minutes sooner than I arrived that a tanker laden with fuel fell and immediately caught fire. I left the car and ran for my dear life. I had already called people including my wife that my car was consumed in the inferno.

Then I decided to come back and see the burnt car for myself only to discover that the car was not touched by the fire. The cars in front of my car, the cars around my car, the buildings and the filling station in the vicinity and even the tent of the Car Wash were all consumed beyond recognition only my car escaped.

Even the police men that investigated the fire were adamant that my car couldn’t have survived the inferno. They were so shocked that they asked me where I worship and followed me to church and they gave their lives to Christ.”

Then he concluded “I urge every Nigerian to serve God. This is something that I cannot believe or explain. God has done it”.

What a marvelous God we serve.

This is a classic case of “even though I walk drive through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for this art with me..”(Psalms 23:4).

Click HERE to watch a video of the live testimony…….

While I was putting together my thoughts to write this article, another astonishing testimony breathed fresh life into my Faith.

So one Christie Onesimus Anzolo, narrated a story of how three people including her husband came out of the wreckage of a car unhurt or even unscratched.

She said, “The car that my husband was driving along with two friends somersaulted and hit a mango tree uprooting it but because their CASE IS DIFFERENT, they all came out unhurt while the car was damaged unrecognizable.

What a mighty God we serve.

To further infuriate the devil, after 7 years of childlessness, a couple welcomed quadruplets, 2 boys and 2 girls. They brought the wonderful kids to the altar at Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Parish, Umudioka, Anambra State on Sunday, January 15th, 2017.

Isn’t our God wonderful?

We need to realize that the same God that did it for these testifiers hasn’t retired from doing great things. He is the same God yesterday, today and forever and He will do your own (Hebrews 13:8).

We need to walk with a superior mindset this year. Remember without Him, you can do nothing. Walk with an “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” mindset (Philippians 4:13).

We need to realize that we are gods, we are sons and daughters of the Most High (Psalms 82:6) and that what no evil is permitted to come near out dwelling (Psalms 91:10).

We need to know that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard the things that God has prepared for those that love Him including you (1 Corinthians 2:9).

We need to realize that no fast money scheme, no ponzi scheme, not even MMM or whatever anyone introduces you to can supply your needs this year except God (Philippians 4:19).

Your Case is Different….

And remember, as a Redeemed of the Lord and as a covenant child, what affects others (childlessness, divorce, death, sickness, financial hardship, joblessness etc) are not permitted to affect you.

Day 7: The Grace Obtaining Divinity (GOD)

It is Day 7 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

This is the second week of the Prayer and Fasting program. Click HERE for previous messages for the first week.

For today, we would be looking at the grace manufacturing factory.

Whenever I look back at my life, where I was and where I am. To the life that I live and lived. To the sins I committed and the ones I continue to commit both knowingly and unknowingly. To the little money I have made. To the small qualifications that I have garnered. To the friends that I loved and lost (including an ex girlfriend who the cold hands of sickle cell anemia took) a couple of years back. To the people that I have touched and those that have touched my life.  To all the times I traveled in planes, cars, buses, bikes and even trains. To the days I drove and was driven. To the times I was sick and even admitted in the hospital. To the times that I had unprotected sex. To the times I did things that could have make God give up on me. To the tears that I have cried and the joys I have experienced. To the good, bad, worrisome, joyful, enlightening, happy and sad times.

When I look back at my life in retrospect, it keeps dawning on me that if it were by my power or might I would have been dead a long time ago.
If it were my power, I would have at least had a fatal accident one of the over a thousand times I have traveled.
If it were my might, I would have been stricken and killed by one of the hundred sicknesses I have endured in my life.
If it were my knowledge, I would have run mad or lost my senses by the regular and intense studying and reading during my time in school.
If it were by my parent’s resources and money, I wouldn’t have been able to finish school or even complete my Masters.
If it were by my senses, I would have been afflicted by a sexually transmitted disease or gotten a girl pregnant our of wedlock as punishment for fornication.
If it were my educational qualifications, I wouldn’t have the job that I have with many more qualified people than I am currently jobless.
If it were for my spirituality, I would have been smitten and killed by the numerous blood craving witches and wizards in the underworld.

In all, I have seen that it’s not by my power or my might but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).

In all, I am what I am, I am who I am, I do what I do, I am alive today, I have the family that I have, I have the little money that I have not by my power or might but by the grace of God that is with me (1 Corinthians 15:10).

In all, what I will become, places I will go, people I will meet, money that I will make, impact that I will have and the life that I will live will be made available because His grace is sufficient for me (2 Corinthians 12:9).

In all, the battles that I will conquer, the enemies that will trample upon, the possessions I will acquire, the children I will have, the beautiful family and wife that I have, the plenty money I will make, the impact that I will make will be made possible because “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Finally, in all, learn to never ever take credit for who you are or what you are or even what you give. Make it a habit to give credit to who credit is due for its by His grace you are even alive.

Stay grateful to remain graceful.

See you tomorrow.

Day 6: The Salary Paying God (Part B)

It is Day 6 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

On Monday we discussed the “The Prayer Answering God”, Tuesday was about “The Power Provoking God“, Wednesday was centered on “The Question Answering God” and Thursday’s message was about “The Secret Revealing God“.

Yesterday, we were introduced to the “The Salary Paying God (Part A)“.

For today, we look at what we would do to get salary from God.
So like Jesus, why are we here on Earth? Is it to reproduce and replenish the Earth? Are we on Earth to make enough money to take care of ourselves and our families? Are we here to be important and have power?

All these things are good but all of the above are inferior to our mission on Earth which is to preach the gospel and this is the job that comes with rewards and a salary from Heaven.

Let’s take a look at “The Lord’s Prayer” in Matthew 6:9-13 which reads….
Out Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your Kingdom come.
Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day out daily bread…..

Let’s stop here….

So reading ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, you can see that the line ‘Your Kingdom come and Your will be done’ comes even before our daily bread (money, food, power, relevance, houses, cars, educational qualifications, clothes, phones etc).

We are fully aware that God’s will is for people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the Truth (1 Timothy 2:4).

Also in 2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season…”, 1 Corinthians 9:16 “Woe to me if I don’t preach the gospel” and Phillipians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ..”

The same way an employee is paid by an employer for his time on the job, God pays His people for their time preaching the gospel.

Paul said in 1 Timothy 5:18 “The laborer deserves his wages” and in 1 Corinthians 9:17 that “If my preaching is voluntary, I have a reward..”.

He also reiterated in 1 Corinthians 15:58 that “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the world of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain”.

In Galatians 6:9, Paul also said “And let us not grow weary of doing good for in due season we will reap if we do not give up”.

In Colossians 3:23-24, Paul also said “And whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men. Knowing that from the Lord ye will receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ”.

Remember that even if you don’t have a job, a job seeker, working part time, fully employed, schooling, become an employee of God and earn wages that would make you a wonder to your World. Make Matthew 6:33 your guide. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things (money, children, marriage, power etc) shall be added to you and know that those who lead many to righteousness will shine like stars for ever and ever (Daniel 12:3).

See you tomorrow

Day 5: The Salary Paying God (Part A)

It is Day 5 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

On Monday we discussed the “The Prayer Answering God”, Tuesday was about “The Power Provoking God“, Wednesday was centered on “The Question Answering God” and Thursday’s message was about “The Secret Revealing God“.

Today, we take a look at the part A of The Salary Paying God.

Most people are amazed by the wonders of the man Jesus, how He healed the sick, raised the dead, fed over five thousand with just five loaves of bread and two fish, walked on water and even resurrected after being crucified.

But there while growing up as a child, what struck me wasn’t all these astonishing miracles He performed while on Earth. What baffled me as a child was the twelve year old Jesus.

In Luke 2:41-52, Luke tells it, the twelve-year-old Jesus attended the Passover festival in Jerusalem with his parents. But when they depart on the return journey to Galilee, Jesus remains behind in the city without their knowledge. The next day they discover his absence, unsuccessfully search the caravan, and finally return to Jerusalem looking for their son. At last they discover him in the Temple, seated among the teachers of the Law, listening, asking and answering questions, and impressing them with his comprehension. Then when His parents saw Him, His mother said to Him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for You” (NIV).

Then the young twelve year old Jesus replied His parents “How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”

It was this answer that astonished a young growing Bible scholar like me for I didn’t understand it till I was grown (physically and spiritually).

“Why would this young boy talk to His parents that way?
Didn’t He understand that His parents were worried sick about Him? Imagine misplacing the Messiah?
What did He mean by His father’s business? Is Jesus a business man? Like is He into buying and selling or human business? What sort of business?”. Those were a few of the thoughts that ravaged my young mind.

It took me over ten years to understand the “Father’s business” Jesus was referring to and this article is my little way of pointing out the lucrative business that Jesus was into that marked Him out as the most important person-ever-liveth.

So why did Jesus come to the World to die and be resurrected on the third day?
The reasons include to save the lost, to serve, to fulfil prophecy, to heal the sick, to raise the dead andto fulfill prophecy. Read “21 Reasons Why Jesus Came To The World” for better understanding.

But for the purpose of this article and we are going to concentrate on one of the most important reasons why Jesus came to die for us and that is seen in Luke 4:43 which reads “But He said to them, ‘I mist preach the kindgom of God to the (World), for I was sent for this purpose”.

As pointed out in the earliar commentary, we were introduced to a 12 year old Jesus who knew his mission on Earth from a very tender age and was required to wait till He was 30 years and well equipped to begin His ministry (Luke 3:23).

So in all His Glory, Jesus knew His mission on Earth was primarily to preach the gospel of God to the World. The healing of the sick, cleansing the lepers, turning water into wine, walking on water, feeding five thousand, casting our demons and even raising the dead are all secondary to his primary mission which is to preach the gospel (Luke 4:43) and then die to atone for the sins of the World (John 3:16).

Day 4: The Secret Revealing God

It is Day 4 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

On Monday we discussed the “The Prayer Answering God”, Tuesday was about “The Power Provoking God“ and yesterday was centered on “The Question Answering God.”

Today, we take a look at the secret revealing God.

While drinking Coca-Cola one hot sunny day, I discovered that there is no type of Cola drink that tastes like Coca-Cola. Not Pepsi, not Dr Pepper, not Big Cola. None tastes exactly like Coca-Cola.

Have you ever wondered why Coca-Cola tastes the way it does?
That no matter how many producers of Cola drinks in this world, that none can ever taste like Coca-Cola?
Even Pepsi the second closest rival to Coca-Cola in the Cola drinks market doesn’t taste like Coca-Cola?

This is as a result of what’s known as trade secrets. According to Wikipedia, a trade secret is a formula, practice, process, design, instrument, pattern, commercial method, or compilation of information not generally known or reasonably ascertainable by others by which a business can obtain an economic advantage over competitors.

Key word in the definition is “economic advantage over competitors”. It’s not a trade secret if it doesn’t give you an advantage.

A trade secret is not generally known to the public, it confers some sort of economic benefit on its holder and is the subject of reasonable efforts to maintain its secrecy.

Coca-Cola’s formula is the most famous trade secret in the World and it’s rumoured that no Coca-Cola employee knows the full recipe. Not even one. That two employees each know just half of the recipe, and only two people know the combination to the safe where it’s stored.

In 2006, a Coca-Cola employee and two accomplices tried to sell the Coke recipe for about $1.5m (£800,000) to the world’s second biggest cola maker, Pepsi. To its credit, Pepsi promptly notified Coke officials, and the group was busted.

That’s how secretive, potent and valuable Coca-Cola’s trade secrets are.

Are you aware that God has His Own secrets.

Yes, you heard that right.

God has His Own secrets and they are more valuable and more potent than Coca-Cola’s secret recipe but not as secretive.

God’s secrets are embedded in the Bible and only those who take out time to read, study and delve into the Word of God can get a hold of His secrets. The Bible said in Deuteronomy 29:29 that “The LORD our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that He has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.” (NLT).

Are you aware that great men have their secrets?
For Abraham it was his absolute faith in God.
For Moses it was his love for his people.
For David it was his love for God.
For Samuel it was service to God.
For Jesus it was His love for us.

This shows you that divine secrets are bookmarks for greatness. You can never grow beyond the level of divine secrets at your disposal. Greatness isn’t achieved by mere wishing but by constant search and heart felt engagement.

The Bible said in Proverbs 25:2 that “It is the Glory of God to conceal a matter but the glory of Kings to search it out”.

Only kings search out the deep things of God and those sought out secrets distinguish the seekers and stands them out in life.

Remember that the secrets things that make life beautiful, enjoyable and worth living belong to God.

We need to eanestly seek for divine secrets by engaging in fervent prayer and fasting and studious engagement of the Word of God.

Once these secrets are revealed to you, it makes you a star in any field.
It’s the help divine secrets that a business can turn around.
It’s the help of divine secrtes that a business contract can be signed, selaed and delivered.
Its divine secrets that can turn a job seeker to an eployer of labour.
Its only divine secrets that turned Joseph from a slave to a Prime Minister.

May you located divine secrets that will transform your life like a dream of the night.

See you tomorrow.

Day 3: The Question Answering God

It is Day 3 of the 21 day Prayer and Fasting…. (Click HERE to read about it)

On Monday we discussed the “Prayer Answering God” and yesterday we spoke about the “Power Provoking God“.

For today, we are looking at the fact that we serve a question answering God.

I have heard of situations where people go to God in prayer asking Him questions.
“Father why am I barren?”
“God why is my husband not talking to me?”
“Jesus why am I not married?”
“Jehovah, why haven’t I been promoted at work?”

All these questions in the form of prayers sound legit to the naked ears but they are ignorant and faith less in the spiritual ears.

God answers questions but the sort of questions you pose to Him matters greatly. James 4:3 says “You ask and receive not because you ask amiss”.

Instead of asking God “why am I barren?”, what the lady needs to do is ask herself if she has actually been studying the word of God relating to children and equipped enough to challenge God with His Word.

Before you ask God questions, make sure you ask yourself a few questions about your situation and take these steps.
1. You have to realize the God you are asking: A baby asks her daddy for biscuits because she has seen her father buy her biscuits before and is confident he is capable of buying them. If he doesn’t buy her the biscuits. She would put him on the hot spot by reminding him of the biscuits he bought for her siblings, how she knows he has the money and when he bought the biscuits for her last week. With this confidence, only a wicked father won’t buy her those biscuits.
Same with God, He has done it before in your life or the lives of people around you. Be rest assured that He will do it again.

2. Know your need, not your want: Sometimes we go to God with a ‘want’ not a ‘need’. We might want a car but do we really need a car? A child might want a phone but does that baby need a phone now? Answer is no. The Bible says in Philippians 4:19 “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus”. It never said He will supply your ‘wants’ but your ‘needs’. Big difference.

3. Ask according to His will and His Word: Let’s take for example, a father promises his child a toy car if he takes first position in class. This child with that promise works hard, reads and then takes first position in his class. The will of the father is to give him a toy car and the Word of her father is “I will give you a guy car if you carry first”. He confidently walks up to daddy and says “Daddy you promised me a toy car if I took first in class. This is my report card and I took first. Please buy my car for me”. A loving father will be left with no choice than to give him his toy car. Same with God. He promised us properity and health in 3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health”. He also promised us children in Psalm 127:3 that “Children are a heritage from the LORD”. It’s His will and now we have the evidence of His Word. It’s time to hold Him accountable.

4. Be patient in asking: After 15 years of waiting for the promise of a child, God visited Abraham again and assured him that the promise would be fulfilled in due time. It took another 10 years after the reassurance for Abraham and Sarah to give birth to a son who was named Isaac.
In between, due to lack of patience, Sarah convinced Abraham to sleep with Hagar (her slave) and they gave birth to Ishmael.
When we pray, we need to exercise patience for Hebrews 10:36 says “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.”
Pray and rest in God. Not pray and panic.

5. Believe it is done: After asking God for something, it’s imperative that you believe it is done. James 1:5 says “When you ask, you must BELIEVE and not doubt”.

6. End with Thanksgiving: Ending your request with thanksgiving is forcing God’s hand to perform because God can never refuse a thanks-giver. That’s His weakness (if He has any).
After reading the Bible and building faith, the woman asking God “why am I barren?” would pray thus:

” Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the beautiful marriage You have given me. Father You said in Your word in James 1:17 that “Every good and perfect gift is from above”. You also said in Psalm 127:3 that “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him”. You even said that in Exodus 23:26 that “none shall be barren in the land” and then Father You summed it up in Psalms 113:9 that “He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children”.
Jesus, You are the same yesterday today and forever as in Hebrews 13:8. If You did it for Abraham and Sarah in their old age, did it for Esther in her helplessness and did it for Mary without her even sleeping with a man. Father, I am not old (I am of the ripe child bearing age), I am not helpless and I sleep with my husband as often as possible. Why am I still barren? I am very certain that You are not a selective God that does it for some and not for others. I am very sure that Your Word never fails as You pointed out in Matthew 24:35 and Isaiah 40:8. So what’s happening in my case? Father prove Yourself in my life. Fulfil Your promises to me and give me my own child.

Ask God questions with His Word as your evidence.

See you tomorrow.
